But these extraordinary talents are all way above the retirement, averagely aging to be 70+. Interesting to see is even they crossed such age, they are still seeking for extensions. Azim Premji among the top 3 billionaires of the country had recently announced about his plans to get the 2 more years of extension as executive chairman and managing director.
Pharma Lupin’s Mr. Gupta also announced about his extension of 5 years. You should know that this isn’t a one-sided affair as Azim Premji announced his extension wasn’t all his call. He just showed his interest in working more for his company. The actual acts stand right in hands of the board of directors. The act requires a proper justification and special resolution with 75% voting in favor to continue with executive powers.
It’s not that this billionaire desire to get into the spotlight of 70’s Club. The actual reason behind is, most of them control a significant amount of shares in their own company or any other company. Therefore this give them enough comfort to seek extension even under the stringent new rules.
Every other Businessman alike Wipro’s Premji will join or have already assigned to the extensions. Alike Adi Godrej of Godrej and KP Singh of DLF have already got their extension under the previous act to lead their companies.
While Habil Khorakhiwala aged 72 also got his extension this year and thus joining the 70’s Club.
Thus there is something different about Kirpal Singh. He aged to be 89 and still doesn’t want to retire. He heads as a chairman of the Dolphin Offshore, and also the oldest of among them. The second name came after Mr. Singh to be the oldest among this billionaire is the Mr. Oberoi of the East India Hotels. Followed by Mr. Reddy and so on.
